What’s the procedure? Cholecystectomy is surgery to remove the gallbladder.
When is it needed? You may need this surgery if you have pain or other symptoms (indigestion, bloating and heartburn) caused by gallstones.
How it’s done. Techniques to remove the gallbladder include minimally invasive/laparoscopic (keyhole) and open surgery.
